A Direct Satellite TV Comparison: DISH Network Versus Direct TV
These two companies offer very different packages, but still there are many similarities as you will see in this satellite TV comparison. Before you compare satellite TV providers you need to have a very good idea of what you expect from your satellite TV provider. This is completely up to you. Me, for example, I got the DISH because I wanted all the football games. If you do not like football, this really is not a selling point.
The DISH Networks biggest advantage outside of the football package is that it includes a free DVT that can record up to 100 hours of programming. After that, the price on the DISH Network is lower then Direct TV and way lower then cable.
Direct TV has a few extra premium packages that you will not find on the DISH Network. Their DVR also has the Season Pass feature which allows you to record and entire season of programming without reruns. The base price for DISH Network is $19.99 a month versus $29.99 per month for Direct TV. Both offer free installation however in some cases you have to pay for this up front then it is removed off of your bill. One separating factor is that on the DISH Network it is a $5 monthly charge for local channels, while that is included in Direct TV.
The biggest factor for me was that on the DISH Network the NFL Sunday Ticket is included with your base purchase. For Direct TV you have to pay for the service, and while it is not expensive the cost of Direct TV is already more then the DISH Network so for me that was a deal breaker. I was amazed that I was able to get every football game for only $19.99 a month.
Whatever you end up deciding on it is best to do the research ahead of time and find the satellite provider that has what you want. Hopefully this satellite TV comparison helped you do that.
