Have you ever considered getting a GPS system but hesitated because they're so expensive? I did until a couple of months ago when I was strolling through my local Walmart and saw them on sale for about a hundred and fifty dollars. That's not really that expensive, not as expensive as I thought they'd be. There are many models advertised all the time that are upwards of three hundred dollars or more. By comparing these models, however, it became apparent that cheap portable GPS systems work just as well as all of those expensive models; it's just that the cheap portable GPS systems don't have all the extra capabilities. But are those capabilities worth all that extra money? As long as it performs portable GPS tracking like its supposed to, that's all that counts.

No Sense Of Direction

If you're like me, and you have no sense of direction, you need a GPS; especially when you're trying to find a friend's house on the Fourth of July and it's in a part of town you're not familiar with. On top of that, the neighborhood isn't what you'd consider 'safe'. I didn't want to have to pull over at a gas station while it was dark to ask for directions. So I wen

t shopping for a cheap portable GPS system and I found one. Actually, the GPS system I found did everything I wanted it to. It got me to my friend's party, way faster than I expected it would, and it talked to me the entire time, telling me when to exit, when to stay in the left or right lane, and it even told me how many miles there were until the next turn. Who needed all those extra capabilities, anyway? I didn't think they were worth paying almost double for what I paid for my cheap portable GPS system. As long as it did as I needed it to, the cheap portable GPS system was fine enough for me.

Marketing

When you hear of the latest model GPS system, with all its new perks, you may be tempted to shell out big bucks for it. After all, you want to be the first to have it. You want to show it off to your friends. "Look what I bought, it can do this and that." If you want to be one of those lemmings who gets taken in by every marketing ploy out there, you're going to find yourself very broke. However, if you want to get gadgets simply because they do what they're supposed to and they don't have all the extras that are really distracting for the most part, you'll end up saving money and you'll still get to your destination on time without having to stop to ask for directions in the hood.
